Our mission
We connect MT-HVDC modeling, converter control, wide-area EMT analysis, cable diagnostics and HIL validation in one research and training ecosystem.
We study how equipment interacts across grids connecting renewable energy, AI data centers, offshore wind and future energy-highway infrastructure.

Read the complete issue →Researchers from the C2 Grid Hub participated in the CIGRE Paris Session 2026, held in Paris, France, from August 23 to 28, 2026. They presented their research on future power system operation and GFM-HVDC technologies during the C2 and B4 sessions and the joint B4-C4 workshop.
C2-GRID hosted an industry expert workshop to share research achievements in GFM-HVDC and MTDC systems, industrial cables, and the Energy-AI nexus, while discussing future directions for technical collaboration and workforce development with industry experts and participating research teams.

Highlighted achievements
The Research Center developed a web-based HVDC design and verification tool that comprehensively evaluates system constraints, P-Q operating regions, DC line losses, and converter design results based on key MMC-HVDC design parameters. The tool can also generate PSCAD and PSS/E simulation models and design documentation.
View achievement →Junchul Lee participated in PESGM 2026 in Montreal, Canada, where he shared research achievements related to the operating experience of Korea’s commercial BTB MMC-HVDC system and the design, control, and grid-support technologies of a large-scale GFM-HVDC system for the West Coast Energy Highway.
View achievement →Chanho Ji, a researcher at the C2 GRID HUB Research Center, presented a poster titled “Ambient PMU-Based Low-Frequency Oscillation Mode Estimation Using SSI-COV and TDA Clustering.” His paper was selected as an outstanding paper, earning him a Best Paper Award.
