What happened
Researchers will attend the 2026 CIGRE Paris Session, held at the Palais des Congrès in Paris, France, from August 23 to 28. The event will address key topics such as the planning, design, testing, commissioning, and operational experience of HVDC equipment, as well as LCC- and VSC-HVDC, offshore HVDC, multiterminal DC grids, and the refurbishment and upgrading of existing systems. The program will include workshops on grid-forming technologies and control in modern power systems, advances in HVDC protection and harmonization for competitive multi-vendor solutions, bipolar multiterminal HVDC based on full-bridge VSCs, and overvoltage testing of VSC-HVDC cable systems. It will also feature a tutorial on power-system black-start restoration using VSC-HVDC, a poster session on DC systems and power electronics, and a Study Committee B4 group discussion meeting. Through the event, the researchers will explore the latest technological developments related to the Center’s key research areas and identify future research directions and opportunities for international collaboration.
