Overview
About this event
Researchers from the Center participated in the 2026 KIEE Power Engineering General Assembly and Fall Conference, held at the Sheraton Jeju Hotel from October 21 to 24, 2026. They shared their research through 13 poster presentations and two oral presentations and exchanged technical perspectives with researchers in related fields.
Min-Ju Lee received an Outstanding Paper Award for the presentation “Replacing EMT Solver by DeepONet-based Neural Network.” The study proposed replacing repeated small-step time integration in EMT simulations with neural-network-based prediction of system states over a time interval. Prediction errors and computation times were compared using three-bus and IEEE 14-bus averaged EMT test systems to examine the potential for accelerating simulations.
Minseong Kim delivered an oral presentation on coordination between DC fault isolation and DC voltage control handover in MTDC systems. The study introduced a method for estimating each converter station’s active power adjustment margin while considering grid strength, reactive power requirements, and current limits. It then examined droop control based on available power margins, the selection of a DC voltage-controlling station, and control handover strategies. DC voltage restoration and active power sharing responses were compared through PSCAD simulations of a four-terminal MTDC system.
The conference provided an opportunity to share the Center’s research on AI-based power system analysis and multi-terminal HVDC control and protection. Through presentations and academic exchanges, participating researchers explored potential applications and priorities for further investigation.
