Chanho Ji received the ICEE 2026 Best Oral Presentation Award for the paper “Impact of MMC Arm Dynamics on the Small-Signal Stability Analysis of Bipolar MTDC System under DC Droop Control.” The study developed a full-order model retaining the internal arm-energy and circulating-current dynamics of the MMC and compared its stability predictions with those of a reduced-order model. Eigenvalue analysis, participation-factor analysis, and time-domain simulations identified an oscillatory mode involving both VSM control and internal MMC energy dynamics, demonstrating the importance of detailed MMC modeling for stability assessment of GFM-based MTDC systems.
