RTDS-Based HIL and Controller Interface Training
On July 6-7 and 13-15, researchers participated in training at Semyung University on RTDS/RSCAD-based power-system modeling and real-time simulation. The real-time simulation and controller interface techniques acquired through the program will support future research on HVDC modeling, controller validation, and HIL testing.

About this event
On July 6-7 and 13-15, researchers participated in training at Semyung University on RTDS/RSCAD-based power-system modeling and real-time simulation. The program covered the basic structure of RSCAD, model compilation, and simulation execution, followed by hands-on modeling of the IEEE 9-bus system and an MMC. Participants also learned the fundamentals of small time-step simulation, analog and digital I/O, and the FPGA-GTSOC digital interface. The training further included configuring I/O interfaces and signal scaling for Arduino, DSP, Plex, and imperix controllers. HIL exercises were conducted to validate PWM, ADC, interrupt control, and protection logic. Participants also practiced UDM I/O and parameter configuration, structural design and model implementation, multi-controller integration, and MMC control. The techniques acquired through this program are expected to support future research on HVDC modeling, real-time power-system analysis, controller performance validation, and RTDS-HIL integration.
