Overview
About this event
Researchers from the Center participated in the RTDS Korea User Group Meeting 2026, held at the Korea Railroad Research Institute on October 26–27, 2026. The event brought together domestic and international experts to share developments and applications in real-time simulation, covering modeling and analysis for electrified railways, power conversion equipment, and AC/DC power networks.
The first day featured presentations on railway technology trends, applications of real-time simulation, and real-time modeling of solid-state transformers (SSTs). Participants also explored the institute’s simulation facilities and recent RTDS developments. Topics included automated repeated testing through Python interfaces, AI model training, and interaction with large language models (LLMs) through MCP, illustrating ways to integrate simulation with software technologies.
The second day covered RTDS-based frequency scanning, overhead line and cable modeling, and modeling and simulation examples involving large AC/DC distribution systems and energy storage. Researchers reviewed considerations relevant to HVDC stability analysis and verification, including frequency-scanning approaches for investigating system impedance and controller interactions, line model selection, and improvements in modeling fidelity.
Building on the Center’s international cooperation MOU with RTDS Technologies, researchers exchanged perspectives with Dr. Yi Zhang and other international experts on real-time analysis and AI and software integration. The meeting provided an opportunity to explore modeling and testing technologies for HVDC and AC/DC network research and consider improvements to research workflows through automated testing and data collection.
