What happened

Chanho Ji presented a poster titled “Ambient PMU-Based Low-Frequency Oscillation Mode Estimation Using SSI-COV and TDA Clustering.” The study proposed a method combining truncated SVD-based SSI-COV with topological data analysis (TDA) clustering to estimate low-frequency oscillation modes using only PMU time-series data collected under normal operating conditions. Simulations conducted on a two-area system, the IEEE 68-bus system, and a reduced-order WECC system demonstrated that the proposed method reduces computational burden in large-scale systems with multiple PMUs while improving the identification of actual oscillation modes by jointly considering damping ratios, frequencies, and mode-shape similarities. The paper was selected as an outstanding paper presented at the KIEE Summer Conference and received a Best Paper Award.
