2026 C2-GRID Industry Expert Workshop
C2-GRID hosted an industry expert workshop to share research achievements in GFM-HVDC and MTDC systems, industrial cables, and the Energy-AI nexus, while discussing future directions for technical collaboration and workforce development with industry experts and participating research teams.

About this event
C2-GRID held its Industry Expert Workshop at Kim Soon Jeon Hall, Yonsei University, on August 13, 2026. Conducted in a hybrid format with both in-person and online participation, the workshop provided a forum for sharing the center’s research progress and workforce development plans and exploring technology development and collaborative frameworks aligned with industry needs.
The workshop featured demonstrations of the MMC HVDC Design Tool and other key software and technologies. C2-GRID and participating research teams also presented their latest research on the design and stability of GFM-HVDC and MTDC systems, large-scale EMT modeling, and industrial cable technologies. In addition, Min-Seung Ko delivered a special session on research and education innovation at the intersection of energy and artificial intelligence.
During the panel discussion, participants shared the industry’s technical requirements and collaborative research needs and discussed institutional cooperation and phased implementation plans. Through the workshop, C2-GRID assessed the potential industrial applications of its research achievements and strengthened the foundation for industry–academia collaboration in future HVDC technology development and professional workforce training.

Sharing Key Research Achievements in HVDC and Power Cable Technologies
The Converter and Cable research teams of C2-GRID presented their key research achievements in the design and stability of GFM-HVDC and MTDC systems, large-scale EMT modeling, cable diagnostics, and power transmission capacity enhancement. Prior to the presentations, Sunghan Kim demonstrated the MMC HVDC Design Tool developed in-house by the research team, highlighting the potential for practical application of its research outcomes.
